Create Custom Slot Animations with Datapacks

Prepare Your Datapack Structure

Inside your datapack folder, create this directory path:

`

data/<mod_id>/window_slots/<animation_name>.json

`

Replace <mod_id> with the mod's identifier and <animation_name> with a descriptive name for your animation.

Use Debug Mode to Find Slot Data

Enable debug mode in settings and open the container you want to animate. Note the screen class name and the slot numbers you want to affect.

Write the JSON Configuration

Create a JSON file that specifies:

  • The target screen class name
  • Which slot numbers to animate
  • Animation properties (timing, easing, direction)

Refer to the mod's datapack documentation for the exact JSON schema and available animation parameters.

Test Your Animation

Place your JSON file in the correct directory, reload your world or restart the game, and open the target container. Your custom animation should now play on the specified slots.
