Optimize Water Reflections for Your System
Locate Water Settings
In the shader options menu, find the water or reflection section. This shader includes realistic water surfaces with reflection capabilities.
Adjust Reflection Quality
Look for toggles and sliders controlling:
- Reflection Render Distance: How far water reflects the sky and terrain. Shorter distances boost performance.
- Reflection Resolution: The clarity of reflections. Lower settings reduce detail but improve frame rate.
- Water Surface Detail: Controls wave and ripple complexity.
Balance Performance
Water reflections are visually striking but GPU-intensive. If your frame rate drops near oceans or rivers, reduce reflection distance first. You can also disable reflections on distant water while keeping nearby reflections sharp.
Test Different Scenarios
Visit a large ocean, a small pond, and a river to see how your settings perform across water sizes. Watch reflections during different times of day—they're most noticeable when the sun is low. Adjust until reflections look natural without causing stuttering during normal gameplay or building.
