How Absorption Hearts Appear

When a player consumes a golden apple or enchanted golden apple, yellow absorption hearts appear beneath their nametag alongside their regular health display. These yellow hearts represent temporary extra protection that absorbs damage before your actual health pool is affected.

Monitoring Absorption in Multiplayer

Watch for yellow hearts appearing under teammate nametags to confirm they've used golden apples for defense. In PvP scenarios, seeing yellow hearts under an opponent's name means they've recently buffed themselves and may be preparing for combat.

Absorption Behavior

Absorption hearts deplete when the player takes damage—they act as a shield. Once depleted, damage begins affecting regular health (shown as red hearts). The data pack displays these yellow hearts in real-time, so you can see exactly when a player's absorption runs out.

Strategic Use

In team play, coordinate golden apple usage by watching absorption displays. If a teammate's yellow hearts are gone, they may need healing or another golden apple.
