Visuality Reforged Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I open the Visuality Reforged config in-game?
Open the mod list from the pause menu, select Visuality Reforged, and click the config button to launch its in-game settings UI. From there you can toggle particle categories on or off without editing any files.
Do I need to install anything on the server for Visuality Reforged to work?
No. Visuality Reforged is entirely client-sided, so it only needs to be installed on your own game. Servers and other players without the mod are unaffected.
Why aren't I seeing any particles from Visuality Reforged?
Check that the relevant particle category is enabled in the config and that your Minecraft particle settings aren't set to Minimal or Decreased. Some effects, like crystal sparkles, only trigger under specific conditions such as amethyst interactions.
How do I stop slime or bone particles from showing up?
Open the in-game config UI and disable the specific particle category you don't want, such as mob hit particles or slime blobs. Changes apply immediately, so you don't need to restart the game.
Can I edit the config file directly instead of using the UI?
Yes. The visuality/config.toml file in your Minecraft config folder contains the same toggles as the in-game UI. Edit it while the game is closed, then relaunch so the changes load.
Will Visuality Reforged cause lag on low-end PCs?
It can add some client-side load since it spawns extra particles, but it doesn't affect server performance. If you notice frame drops, disable the heavier categories like environmental or crystal particles in the config.
How do I get the crystal sparkle particles from amethyst?
Interact with amethyst blocks or clusters in a way that triggers the sparkle effect, such as mining or stepping near them, and make sure crystal sparkles are enabled in the config. The particles appear client-side only, so other players may not see them.
Does Visuality Reforged work with shaders or other particle mods?
It generally coexists with shader packs and other client-side mods, but overlapping particle mods can stack effects or cause visual clutter. If something looks wrong, disable one of the mods' particle categories to isolate the conflict.
Why do other players not see the particles I see?
Because the mod is client-sided, particles only render on your own screen. Anyone without Visuality Reforged installed will see vanilla behavior instead.
Do I have to restart Minecraft after changing particle settings?
No, changes made through the in-game config UI take effect right away. Only edits made directly to the config.toml file require a game restart to apply.
