Customize Particle Effects Per Biome

Access the Resource Pack Settings

Visual Effects+ allows you to fine-tune particle density and type for each biome environment. Open your resource pack folder and locate the particle configuration files organized by biome category (caves, deserts, forests, etc.).

Adjust Particle Intensity

Within each biome's configuration, you'll find particle spawn rate and behavior settings. Reduce values if particles feel overwhelming on your system, or increase them for more dramatic atmospheric effects. Common adjustable particles include:

  • Ambient floating particles (dust, pollen, spores)
  • Weather-specific effects (rain streaks, snow swirls)
  • Biome-exclusive effects (fireflies in swamps, sandstorm dust in deserts)

Apply Changes In-Game

Save your edits and reload the resource pack through Minecraft's resource pack menu. Changes take effect immediately when you re-enter a biome. Test in different environments to ensure the balance feels right for your playstyle and hardware. If performance drops, prioritize reducing cave and weather particle counts first, as these tend to be most demanding.
