How to Set Up an Emerald Trail for Hands-Free Villager Movement
Plan Your Route
Decide where you want villagers to go. Emerald trails work best on flat terrain or well-lit paths. Mark your route mentally or with torches to ensure you place emeralds in a clear, logical line.
Place Emeralds in a Line
Place individual emeralds or emerald blocks on the ground in a continuous path from the villagers' starting point to their destination. Space them close enough that villagers can see the next item in the sequence. Emerald blocks are easier to spot than loose emeralds.
Lead Villagers to the Trail
Hold an emerald item and stand near the villagers until they follow you to the beginning of your emerald trail. Once they spot the trail, they'll begin following it and picking up the emeralds as they move.
Monitor Progress
Watch the villagers as they travel the trail. If they stop or get distracted, hold an emerald item again to redirect them. Ensure the path remains clear of obstacles and hostile mobs.
Clean Up
Once villagers reach their destination, collect any remaining emeralds from the ground to prevent them from continuing further.
