How to See a Villager's Profession on the Trade Screen
One of the most useful features of the Villager Names Mod is that it displays the villager's profession directly on the trading screen. Because named villagers no longer show the profession in the usual way, this addition makes it easy to tell what a villager does at a glance.
Using the Trade Screen
Walk up to any villager and open the trade interface as you normally would. Look at the top of the trade window where the villager's name appears. The mod adds the profession next to or below the name, so you can immediately identify whether you are trading with a farmer, librarian, blacksmith, or another profession.
Why This Matters
In vanilla Minecraft, an unnamed villager's profession is visible through their clothing and the workstation they use. Once the mod assigns a name, that visual cue is still present but easy to overlook, especially in crowded trading halls. The profession label on the trade screen removes the guesswork.
Practical Uses
When building a trading hall, you can quickly scan each villager's trade screen to confirm you have the professions you need. If you are rerolling trades, the label helps you keep track of which villager you are working with. Combine this with name tags if you want both a custom name and a clear profession indicator.
