How to Enable Pre-1.14 Trade Mechanics
Why Use Old Trade Mechanics
Before the 1.14 village overhaul, trades worked differently: villagers had a fixed set of trades that did not lock, demand and price multipliers behaved differently, and refreshing trades was simpler. Villager Config Mod includes a config option to restore that older behavior, which is popular with players who dislike the modern trade-locking and restocking system.
Turning It On
Open the mod's config file and find the option for old trade mechanics. Set it to enabled, then save and reload or restart. Once active, villagers will use the legacy trade logic instead of the current system. This affects how trades are generated and how prices adjust over time.
What Changes In-Game
With legacy mechanics on, you will notice trades no longer lock after being used the way modern villagers do, and price behavior follows the older rules. This can make bulk trading more predictable. If you run a server, decide this setting before players invest in trading halls, since switching later changes how existing setups behave. Test with a single villager first before applying it world-wide.
