Create a Custom Villager Profession

Setting Up Your Profession File

Custom professions are defined in simple text configuration files. Navigate to your mod's config folder and create a new file for your profession (for example, baker.txt or blacksmith.txt).

Defining the Profession

In your file, specify:

  • Profession name: What you want to call this job
  • Workstation block: Any block in Minecraft can be a workstation—use a blast furnace for a metalworker, a cauldron for an alchemist, or a composter for a farmer
  • Texture/appearance settings: Control how the villager looks (optional biome variants)

Linking Trades

Once your profession file is created, you'll reference it when setting up trade lists. The mod automatically recognizes the workstation block, so any villager standing near it will adopt that profession and display the correct appearance.

Test by placing your workstation block near a villager—they should immediately change profession and appearance. If they don't, double-check your file syntax and profession name spelling.
