Setting Up Separate Main Hand and Offhand Views

Why They Are Separate

View Model Mod treats the main hand and offhand as independent, which matters because the offhand sits on the opposite side of the screen and often looks cramped or half-hidden by default. Open the config screen and locate the two hand sections — they are usually labelled main hand and offhand, each with their own position and scale controls.

Tuning the Offhand

Start with the offhand, since it is the one most players want to fix. Move it inward and slightly up so a shield, torch, or totem is fully visible without covering your crosshair. Because the offhand mirrors the main hand's layout, an offset that moves it right on screen may require the opposite direction value compared to the main hand — test and correct as you go.

Matching the Pair

Once both hands are placed, hold a two-handed-looking setup — a tool in the main hand and a shield or torch in the offhand — and check that they do not overlap or sit at jarringly different heights. Fine-tune the vertical values until they feel balanced. Save the config, then verify in a world with a few item combinations before committing to the values.
