How to Change Your Hand Position in View Model Mod
Opening the Configuration
View Model Mod is controlled through its own config screen rather than the vanilla options menu. Open it from the Mods list (via your mod loader's mod menu) and click the config button next to View Model Mod, or use the mod's assigned keybind if one is set. Once inside, you will see separate sliders or number fields for the main hand and the offhand.
Adjusting Each Axis
Each hand has independent position values, typically split into horizontal, vertical, and depth offsets. Move the sliders a little at a time and watch the preview or return to the game to check the result. Small changes are easier to judge than large jumps, so nudge one axis, look at your hand, then adjust again. If a value makes the hand clip into blocks or disappear off-screen, pull it back toward the default.
Saving and Testing
Apply or save the config when you are happy, then load into a world and switch between first-person items — a sword, a pickaxe, and a torch all sit differently, so check a few. If something looks wrong, reopen the config and reset that hand to its default before tweaking again. Keep a note of values you like so you can restore them after changing modpacks or profiles.
