Read a map comfortably while moving

The problem

When holding a map while walking, the camera bobbing makes the map bounce up and down, making it hard to read your surroundings or navigate.

Quick solution with the hotkey

1. Hold your map

2. Press Z (your configured hotkey) to disable bobbing

3. Walk around—your view stays steady and the map is easy to read

4. Press Z again when you're done navigating to re-enable bobbing

Permanent solution

If you always want maps to be still:

1. Hold a map

2. Press Z to disable bobbing for maps

3. From now on, every map you pick up will have bobbing disabled automatically

4. Other items will continue bobbing normally

Combining approaches

You can also lower your overall bobbing intensity in settings (see "Adjust camera bobbing intensity") for a gentler effect on all items, then use the per-item toggle for maps specifically. This gives you fine control over your viewing experience.
