Making Sure ViaRewind Loads Correctly Alongside ViaVersion and ViaBackwards
Load order and version alignment matter more than most admins realize. If the three plugins disagree, legacy support silently fails.
Verify load order
ViaVersion must initialize before ViaBackwards, and ViaBackwards before ViaRewind. On most server software this happens automatically when all three are present, but plugins that delay loading can interfere. Check the console for the order in which they enable.
Keep them in sync
Update all three together. Mixing a fresh ViaRewind with an old ViaBackwards is a frequent source of errors. Treat them as one unit whenever you update.
Confirm Java compatibility
ViaRewind needs a Java runtime that the server software supports. If your host runs an older Java, the plugin may fail to enable even though the files are in place. Check the startup log for a Java-related error before assuming the plugin itself is broken.
Test after every change
After any update or plugin addition, reconnect with a legacy client. A quick login test catches most load-order problems before your players do.
