How to Fix Connection Errors and Crashes in ViaFabricPlus

Check the Protocol Version First

Most connection problems come from a mismatched protocol version. Open the ViaFabricPlus settings and confirm the selected version matches the server. If you are unsure, set it to auto-detect and reconnect. A wrong version often shows up as an immediate disconnect, a "failed to connect" message, or a crash during the login phase.

Toggle Version-Specific Fixes

ViaFabricPlus includes fixes for quirks in older versions, such as movement, block placement, and inventory handling. If you can connect but the game misbehaves, open the settings and enable or disable the relevant fix for that version. For example, classic and beta versions have their own movement and interaction fixes that may need adjusting depending on the server's own patches.

Resolve Crashes and Mod Conflicts

If Minecraft crashes on join, check whether another mod is conflicting with the translation layer. Mods that change networking, chunk rendering, or the player controller are common culprits. Try joining with only ViaFabricPlus and its required dependencies enabled to isolate the problem. Also make sure you are not forcing a version that the server does not actually support. When in doubt, reset the mod's settings to default and test one server at a time to find which setting causes the issue.
