Adjust VHS Distortion and Scan Line Intensity
Access Shader Settings
Open your shader options menu while in-game. This is typically found in Video Settings > Shaders > Shader Options, though the exact path depends on your launcher.
Customize Visual Effects
VHS Horror Shaders provides sliders to control the intensity of its signature effects:
- Scan lines: Reduce or increase the horizontal line pattern that mimics old television screens. Lower values create a subtler effect; higher values intensify the retro look.
- VHS distortion: Adjust the amount of visual warping and color shifting. This affects how much the image appears to glitch or warp like degraded tape.
- Chromatic aberration: Control color fringing at screen edges, simulating lens imperfections.
- Noise/grain: Modify the film grain overlay that adds texture to the image.
Apply and Test
After adjusting each slider, observe the changes in real-time. Move around your world to see how the effects interact with different lighting conditions and block types. Some players prefer subtle settings for exploration, while others maximize effects for horror atmosphere. Save your preferred configuration—most shader packs remember your settings between sessions.
