Make Caves and Underground Areas Easier to Navigate
Increase Torch Brightness
In shader settings, boost the torch light radius or intensity. This makes torches cast light further into caves, reducing dark spots and making navigation safer.
Adjust Ambient Light
Raise the ambient light level—this is the baseline brightness applied everywhere, even in shadows. Higher ambient light means caves won't feel pitch-black, but the world will look less dramatic.
Use Strategic Torch Placement
Place torches more frequently in caves than you normally would. With enhanced lighting from Veyluma TorchLite, fewer torches may be needed, but spacing them every 8–12 blocks ensures consistent visibility.
Test Different Times of Day
Caves look different depending on surface lighting conditions. Visit your cave at night versus day to see how ambient light from the sky affects underground brightness.
Consider Lanterns
Lanterns emit slightly different light than torches in many shaders. Experiment with both to see which provides better visibility in your specific cave system. Lanterns often look cleaner and cast light more evenly.
