Optimize Frame Rate on Lower-End Hardware
Why Performance Matters
While Veyluma NovaMist Shaders is balanced for mid-range PCs, lower-end systems may experience frame rate dips. The shader's cinematic effects—atmospheric rendering, water detail, and lighting—can be scaled down.
Key Performance Settings
In the Iris shader options menu, locate performance-related toggles:
- Shadow Quality: Reduce shadow resolution or disable shadow mapping entirely for a significant frame rate boost.
- Ambient Occlusion: This darkening effect in crevices can be disabled or set to a lower quality.
- Render Distance: Lower your chunk render distance in Video Settings—this is the single most impactful change.
- Lighting Detail: Reduce the complexity of light calculations by lowering lighting quality settings.
Testing Performance
After each adjustment, observe your frame rate in a demanding area (dense forests, large water bodies). The pearl-blue atmosphere and matte terrain will remain visually cohesive even with reduced effects. Aim for consistent frame rates above your monitor's refresh rate for smooth gameplay.
