Optimize Frame Rate While Keeping Visual Quality
Identify Performance Options
Enter Shader Options and locate settings related to shadow quality, reflection detail, and ambient occlusion. These features create the cinematic look but consume the most GPU power.
Reduce Shadow Resolution
Lower the Shadow Map Resolution or Shadow Distance setting. This reduces the detail of shadows cast by blocks and terrain. You'll still see soft shadows, but they'll render faster. Start by dropping one or two notches and check your frame rate.
Disable or Lower Reflections
If water reflections or screen-space reflections are enabled, reduce their quality or turn them off. Water will still look clear and beautiful without reflections, and this change significantly boosts performance on mid-range systems.
Balance Ambient Effects
Adjust Ambient Occlusion intensity—this darkens crevices and corners. Lowering it slightly maintains the cinematic feel while freeing up processing power.
Monitor and Adjust
Check your frame counter (F3 key) while flying through different biomes. Aim for consistent frame rates, then gradually increase quality settings until you find your comfort zone.
