Set Up Custom Version Text for a Modpack

Prepare Your Modpack Directory

Before distributing your modpack, ensure Version Changer Mod is included in the mods folder. Players who install your modpack will have this mod active.

Configure the Default Version String

Edit the mod's config file to display your modpack's name and version. This creates a consistent branded experience for all players. For example, you could set it to show your modpack's title instead of the base Minecraft version.

Include Configuration with Distribution

When packaging your modpack for distribution, include the pre-configured Version Changer config file. This ensures every player who installs your modpack sees the same custom version text without needing to manually edit settings.

Test Across Installations

Verify that the version text displays correctly when a fresh installation runs the modpack. Check both single-player worlds and multiplayer server connections to ensure consistency.

Update for New Releases

When you release a new version of your modpack, update the config file's version text accordingly so players immediately see they're running the latest release.
