Optimize Shadow Rendering for Better Performance
Accessing Shadow Settings
Open Shader Options and navigate to the Shadows or Shadow Quality section. This controls how detailed and far-reaching shadows from the sun and moon appear.
Reducing Shadow Load
If shadows cause stuttering or frame drops:
- Lower Shadow Map Resolution to reduce the detail of shadow edges
- Decrease Shadow Distance so shadows only render close to the player
- Disable Dynamic Shadows from moving entities if performance is critical
- Reduce Shadow Softness or Penumbra to skip expensive blur calculations
Maintaining Atmosphere
Even with reduced settings, shadows remain a core feature of VerdantLight Pro's fantasy mood. Test changes in different biomes—forests cast complex shadows, while open plains show the impact most clearly. Keep at least basic shadow rendering enabled; the mod's aesthetic relies on deep, accurate shadows to create its cinematic feel. Adjust incrementally until gameplay feels smooth.
