Enhance Underwater and Water Surface Effects
Locating Water Settings
Open Shader Options and find the Water or Caustics section. This controls how light interacts with water surfaces and underwater environments.
Improving Underwater Visuals
- Enable Underwater Caustics to add realistic light patterns on the seafloor, mimicking how sunlight refracts through rippling water
- Adjust Caustic Intensity to control how bright or subtle these patterns appear
- Increase Water Transparency if underwater scenes feel too murky, or lower it for a deeper, moodier look
- Check Refraction settings to enhance the bending of light at the water surface
Testing Different Conditions
Swim to various depths and times of day. Caustics look most dramatic in shallow water during midday when sunlight is strong. In deeper caves or at night, reduce caustic intensity to avoid visual noise. Adjust Water Fog to control how far you can see underwater, balancing atmosphere with visibility for navigation.
