Pair Velvet Frames with Iris Shaders and Sodium for Best Results

Install and Configure the Stack

Velvet Frames Engine is designed to work alongside Iris Shaders (which handles shader pack rendering) and Sodium (which optimizes chunk rendering).

Setup:

1. Ensure Sodium is installed and enabled—it replaces the default renderer with a faster version

2. Install Iris Shaders and load your chosen shader pack (Bliss, Solas, Complementary, BSL, or Photon are well-tested)

3. Enable Velvet Frames Engine

4. Launch the world and check framerate

Optimize the Three-Mod Combination

Iris Shaders has its own quality settings (shadow distance, bloom intensity, etc.). Start with medium shader settings, then use Velvet Frames' resolution slider to fine-tune framerate. Sodium's chunk rendering distance can also be adjusted—lower render distance reduces CPU load and gives Velvet Frames more headroom.

If framerate is still unstable, reduce shader quality *before* lowering Velvet Frames' internal resolution, as shader complexity often bottlenecks before rendering resolution does.
