Configure Upscaling Resolution for Your Hardware

Find Your Optimal Internal Resolution

Velvet Frames Engine works by rendering at a lower internal resolution, then upscaling to your display resolution. Lower internal resolutions boost framerate more, but may reduce visual clarity.

Start here:

1. Open the Velvet Frames Engine settings (usually accessible via mod menu or in-game settings)

2. Locate the internal resolution or render scale slider

3. Begin at 75% of your native resolution and test for 2–3 minutes in a demanding area (cities, forests with heavy shaders)

4. If framerate is still low, decrease to 60% or 50%

5. If framerate is smooth but image looks blurry, increase by 5–10% increments

Balance Clarity and Performance

The temporal upscaling algorithm improves clarity over multiple frames, so slight blurriness at first frame often resolves as you play. If you're GPU-bound (GPU usage near 100%), prioritize lower resolution. If CPU-bound, you may keep resolution higher since the bottleneck isn't rendering.

Test with your chosen shader pack active—different shaders stress the GPU differently.
