Mine Ore Veins Without Triggering Vein Mining
Breaking Single Blocks Intentionally
Sometimes you want to harvest just one ore block instead of the entire vein—perhaps to preserve resources or for specific farming techniques.
Methods to Mine Normally
1. Use a different tool: If you configured vein mining only for pickaxes, use a sword or hand-mine instead
2. Hold a modifier key: Many Veinst configurations support holding Shift, Ctrl, or Alt while mining to disable vein detection for that block
3. Edit your config: Temporarily remove the tool from the whitelist, mine normally, then re-add it
4. Use a non-whitelisted tool: Craft or find a tool that isn't configured for vein mining
Why You Might Want This
Single-block mining is useful for:
- Harvesting ore slowly to maximize experience drops
- Collecting specific amounts of material without waste
- Mining in tight spaces where a full vein would cause problems
- Testing whether vein mining is actually active
Check your mod's documentation or config comments to confirm which modifier key (if any) is bound to bypass vein mining.
