Using Vein Mining Efficiently While Branch Mining
Why It Pairs Well With Branch Mining
Branch mining exposes many ore blocks along long tunnels. With Vein Mining, each exposed ore block you break clears its whole connected vein, so you spend less time digging around a vein and more time advancing your tunnel.
A Simple Branch Mining Routine
1. Dig your main tunnel and side branches at your chosen spacing.
2. When you spot an ore block in a wall or floor, mine it directly.
3. Let the chain reaction clear the connected vein, then collect the drops.
4. Continue your branch without widening the tunnel to chase every block — the mod already handled the vein.
Efficiency Notes
- Because veins clear instantly, you can move faster through your branch pattern and cover more ground.
- Keep your tunnel floor clear so drops are easy to spot and pick up.
- If a vein extends into a wall you have not exposed, the mod still breaks the connected blocks, which can open small pockets. Watch for unexpected gaps or water/lava flowing in.
- Bring torches and a light source; cleared veins can leave dark pockets where mobs may spawn.
- Combine with a Fortune pickaxe to maximize yield per vein, since the enchantment applies to every block broken in the chain.
