How to Safely Loot a Desert Pyramid Without Triggering Traps

Scout Before You Dig

Desert pyramids in this mod hide traps beneath the floor, so never dig straight down to the chest chamber. Instead, approach from the sides or top and use a pickaxe to carefully remove blocks one at a time. Listen for redstone sounds—clicks, hums, or mechanical noises indicate active traps nearby.

Identify Trap Types

Look for pressure plates, dispensers, or unusual block patterns (dripstone spikes, sculk blocks, or lava channels). Each temple variant has distinct hazards:

  • Pressure plates often trigger poison darts or mob spawners
  • Dripstone indicates falling damage below
  • Lava channels suggest flooding mechanisms
  • Sculk blocks warn of warden spawning

Disable Traps Safely

Once you spot a trap mechanism, disable it before looting. Break pressure plates from the side, place blocks over dispensers, or drain lava with sand or sponges. If you're unsure about a trap's full extent, use a throwable item (like a snowball) to test pressure plates from a distance first.

Collect Your Reward

After disarming hazards, the chest chamber is yours. Expect valuable loot alongside the dangers you've overcome.
