Safely Edit Server Files and Manage Backups
Use the Built-In File Manager
Edit configuration files, manage world data, and handle backups without FTP or SSH access.
Browse and Edit Files
1. Open the File Manager tab in your dashboard
2. Navigate your server directory structure
3. Click on text files (configs, properties, JSON) to edit them directly in your browser
4. Save changes — they take effect after a server restart
5. Download any file to your computer for backup or inspection
6. Upload new files or updated configs without terminal access
7. Delete files you no longer need (use caution)
Create and Schedule Backups
1. Navigate to the Backups section
2. Click Generate Verified Backup to create a snapshot of your world and server data
3. Schedule tasks like auto-saving at regular intervals (e.g., every 6 hours)
4. Download backup files to your computer for off-site storage
Safety Tips
- Always generate a backup before editing critical files like server.properties
- Test config changes on a backup copy first
- The audit log tracks all file edits, so you can see who changed what and when
