Reduce Shader Effects for Better Performance

Open Shader Configuration

Access your shader settings through the video options menu. Find the VanillaExtra Shaders panel to view available performance options.

Disable or Lower Effect Intensity

VanillaExtra includes toggles for various lightweight effects. Look for options to:

  • Reduce shadow quality or disable dynamic shadows
  • Lower ambient occlusion intensity
  • Disable bloom or glow effects
  • Reduce water and reflection quality

Each effect can typically be toggled independently, allowing you to keep the visual improvements you enjoy while cutting those that impact your frame rate most.

Monitor Frame Rate Changes

After each adjustment, play for a few minutes and check your FPS counter. Even small reductions in effect quality can yield noticeable frame rate improvements on older hardware.

Find Your Balance

The goal is finding the sweet spot where the shader still looks good but runs smoothly. You may need to experiment with different combinations of settings to achieve stable gameplay while maintaining visual appeal.
