Adjust Shader Brightness and Contrast

Access Shader Settings

Open your game and press the shader configuration key (usually accessed through your shader menu or video settings). Look for the VanillaExtra Shaders options panel.

Modify Lighting Parameters

Locate the brightness and contrast sliders. VanillaExtra provides intuitive controls for:

  • Brightness: Increase to make dark areas more visible, decrease for moodier lighting
  • Contrast: Adjust to enhance the difference between lit and shadowed areas

Small adjustments go a long way with this lightweight shader. Start with small increments and observe changes in real-time as you move around your world.

Save Your Preferences

Once satisfied, apply and save your settings. Your configuration will persist across game sessions. If you want to return to defaults, most shader packs include a reset option in their settings menu.

Test in Different Conditions

Walk through caves, forests, and open areas to ensure your brightness settings work well across all lighting scenarios. Caves should remain atmospheric while still playable, and daylight shouldn't feel washed out.
