Maximizing Volumetric Light Ray Effects

Understanding Light Ray Conditions

Volumetric light rays in Vanilla Remake Shaders appear when sunlight passes through particles and blocks. They're most visible in forests, near clouds, and during specific times of day. The rays won't appear in completely clear skies or underground.

Best Locations and Times

Visit dense forests during morning or late afternoon for the most dramatic light rays. The sun's angle matters—rays are most visible when the sun is lower on the horizon. Biomes with tall trees like jungles and dark forests showcase this effect beautifully.

Enhancing the Effect

If your shader settings allow, increase volumetric ray quality and distance. Plant more trees or visit areas with natural particle effects like waterfalls and rain to see rays interact with these elements.

Take screenshots during golden hour (sunrise/sunset) for the most striking visuals. The combination of the square sun billboard and volumetric rays creates the shader's signature look during these times. Experiment with different biomes to see how the effect varies with terrain and vegetation density.
