Adjusting Shader Settings for Better Performance
Access Shader Options
Open your pause menu and look for the Shader Options button. This is where you can fine-tune Vanilla Remake Shaders to match your system's capabilities.
Key Settings to Adjust
Volumetric Light Rays: If you're experiencing frame rate drops, reduce the quality or distance of volumetric rays. This feature is beautiful but performance-intensive, especially in dense forests.
Shadow Quality: Lower shadow resolution improves frame rates on older hardware while maintaining the shader's clean aesthetic.
Cloud Rendering: The stylized blocky clouds can be simplified if needed. Reducing cloud detail helps on systems with limited VRAM.
Finding Your Balance
Start by lowering one setting at a time and testing in different biomes—forests with light rays are most demanding. The shader is optimized for smooth performance, but your specific hardware may need tweaks. Check your frame counter (F3 key) to monitor changes in real time.
If you're getting consistent frame rates above 60 FPS, try increasing a setting to enhance visual quality. The goal is finding the sweet spot between the beautiful lighting effects and playable performance.
