Set Up a Guard Patrol Route for Your Hired Units

Creating a Patrol Post

To establish a patrol area for your guards, you need to designate a guard post. Sneak (hold Shift) and right-click the ground with an empty hand at the location where you want your guards to return and patrol from. This sets a return point for your hired units.

Assigning Guards to Patrol

Once you've set a guard post, your nearby hired units will use it as their base. They'll patrol within a set range around this point rather than following you constantly. This is especially useful for protecting your base or castle while you explore.

Switching Between Modes

Use the Toggle Guard Mode Horn to switch your troops between follow mode (they stay near you) and guard mode (they patrol their assigned area). You can blow the horn to affect all nearby units at once, making it quick to reorganize your army.

Managing Multiple Posts

You can set different guard posts in different locations. Assign specific units to each post by managing them through the Unit Overview menu (press U). This lets you maintain multiple defensive positions across your realm without manually controlling each guard.
