Navigating the Castle Layout and Finding Resources
Understanding the Structure
The Utgard Map's castle is built around a central keep with multiple towers extending outward. The long dark stone bridge serves as the main entrance—use it as your navigation reference point. From there, the fortress expands into interconnected halls and rooms at various elevations.
Exploring Safely
Bring torches and place them as you explore to mark your path back. The tall towers can be disorienting, so mark key intersections. Watch for broken floors and gaps in bridges—fall damage is a real threat on this mountain. Move slowly through unfamiliar sections.
Resource Gathering
The dark stone blocks throughout the fortress can be mined for building materials. Wooden furniture inside can be broken down for wood. Snow layers on roofs and ground provide water access. Look for natural cave systems that may exist beneath or within the mountain itself—these often contain valuable ores.
Mapping Key Locations
Note the positions of large rooms suitable for farms or storage, towers that could serve as lookout points, and any open courtyards. The architectural symmetry of the castle means once you understand one section, similar layouts will repeat elsewhere.
