Dealing with Snow and Weather on the Mountain

Managing Snow Accumulation

Snow constantly falls on the Utgard Map's peak. Build roofs over areas where you want to keep snow from piling up, especially around your base entrance and farming areas. The castle's existing roof sections already provide some protection—reinforce these first before building new structures.

Creating Sheltered Pathways

Connect important buildings with covered walkways using the castle's existing architecture as a framework. Extend roofs from the main fortress over bridges and courtyards. This prevents you from getting lost in heavy snowfall and protects your movement routes.

Water Management

Melting snow creates water flow issues. Dig channels or use slabs to direct water away from your base. If you need water for farming or other purposes, collect snow and melt it in furnaces, or locate the natural water sources that may exist on the mountain.

Lighting and Visibility

The constant snow reduces visibility, especially during storms. Place torches and lanterns liberally along paths and around your base perimeter. This also prevents hostile mobs from spawning in dark corners of the ruins. Consider using the purple stained glass windows strategically to create well-lit interior spaces.
