Fixing Common Grave Problems: Missing Graves, Locked Graves, and Lost Items

Most grave issues come down to timing, configuration, or the death location itself.

The grave never appeared

If no coordinates were posted in chat, no grave was created. The usual causes: the death happened during PvP on a server configured to skip graves for player kills, or the death occurred in a dimension or location the config excludes. Check the config for PvP and per-situation toggles.

The grave is there but I cannot open it

If you are the owner and still cannot interact, you may be looking at a grave that already decayed into a broken state, or a plugin/mod conflict is intercepting the interaction. Try interacting from a different side or angle, and confirm you are not sneaking, since some setups require a normal right-click.

If another player's grave is locked, that is the protection timer working as intended.

My items are gone

Once the decay timer elapses, the grave breaks and its contents are deleted permanently — there is no recovery. If items vanished before that, verify the grave was actually yours and that you emptied it fully; a full inventory can leave items behind, which then decay with the grave.

Prevention

Screenshot the death coordinates, keep your inventory tidy before risky trips, and confirm your server's timer values so you know your real deadline.
