Making the Dark UI Easier on the Eyes at Night
Pairing With Brightness and Gamma
Unique Dark already lowers the brightness of interface panels, which helps most in low-light builds and at night. To get the full benefit, avoid cranking your in-game brightness so high that the world washes out — a moderate brightness keeps the dark GUI feeling cohesive rather than jarring against a blown-out scene. The dark hotbar and buttons stay readable because their contrast is built into the textures.
Reducing Glare From Other Elements
If bright item icons or a light-colored HUD still strain your eyes, combine Unique Dark with a darker hotbar-adjacent setup: keep your selected-slot highlight subtle and avoid stacking a second bright GUI pack on top. Since Unique Dark covers the hotbar and buttons, leaving those to it prevents a bright override from reintroducing glare.
Nighttime and Cave Play
In caves and at night, the dark inventory, chest, and crafting screens blend better with the dim surroundings, so opening a chest no longer flashes a bright panel. If you play with shaders, remember shaders affect the world, not the GUI — Unique Dark's interface stays dark regardless, so the two work together without extra configuration. Test by opening a furnace and enchanting table in a dark room to confirm the panels remain easy to read.
