How to Navigate Stoneholm's Maze Without Getting Lost

Stoneholm villages are described as sprawling mazes of halls and floors, so getting lost is the most common problem players run into.

Mapping as You Go

  • Place torches only on one side of a corridor (for example, always the right wall) so you can follow them back the way you came.
  • Use distinct blocks like wool, concrete, or colored terracotta at every junction to mark which branch you have already explored.
  • Carry a stack of cheap blocks to seal off dead ends you have finished looting, narrowing the maze as you go.
  • Note stairwells and vertical shafts; these connect floors and are easy to confuse with each other.

Recovering When Lost

If you lose your way, stop and look for consistent features: farms, meeting rooms, and decorated halls tend to sit near the center or along main routes. Follow the brightest, widest corridor; main halls usually have more lighting than side rooms. If you truly cannot find your base, dig a small shaft straight up to the surface and navigate back from above, then re-enter through a marked entrance. Keeping a written note of turns at each junction saves far more time than wandering.
