How to Find an Underground Village (Stoneholm) in Your World

Stoneholm villages generate deep underground, so the fastest way to reach one is to stop digging blindly and start scanning. They are carved into stone, so they blend into the surrounding rock until you are close.

Locating a Village

  • Dig down to deep cave depths and explore large natural caverns; Stoneholm structures often intersect or open into them.
  • Watch for carved stone brick corridors, wooden doors, torches, and lanterns embedded in walls where no player placed them.
  • Listen for villager sounds and look for warm light spilling from a tunnel mouth.
  • If you have access to spectator mode or a structure-locating command in your world, use it to confirm a village exists before committing to a long dig.
  • Bring plenty of torches and blocks to bridge gaps, since connecting tunnels can be broken by caves.

Confirming You Found One

A real Stoneholm has multiple floors connected by stairwells, decorated rooms, farms, and lit hallways rather than a single chamber. Once you see repeating rooms and villager homes, you have arrived. Mark the entrance with a distinctive block or a torch trail so you can find your way back after exploring.
