Create a Custom Colored Tooltip for Your Item

Setting Up Your Item Configuration

Custom colored tooltips are defined in your ItemsAdder or Nexo configuration files. Each tooltip is tied to one of the 16 vanilla chat colors available in the mod.

1. Open your plugin's configuration folder and locate the items configuration file

2. Find or create an item entry you want to customize

3. In the item's properties, add a tooltip field that references one of the available colored tooltip models

4. Specify which vanilla chat color you want the tooltip to display in (Dark Blue, Aqua, Gold, Green, Purple, etc.)

5. Add your tooltip text—this is what players will see when hovering over the item

Applying and Testing

After editing your configuration:

1. Run /iazip (ItemsAdder) or the equivalent reload command for your plugin

2. Obtain the item in-game using /give or your plugin's item command

3. Hover over the item in your inventory to preview the colored tooltip

4. If the tooltip doesn't appear, verify the color name matches exactly and reload again

The tooltip will now display with your chosen color, making the item stand out in players' inventories.
