Hiding the Armor HUD When You Don't Want It

Toggling the Overlay

Some players love the constant readout; others find any extra overlay distracting, especially while building, exploring, or recording. Uku's Armor HUD can be turned off when you do not need it. Open the mod's config screen from the mod list and look for the option that enables or disables the widget. Disabling it removes the four-columned bar from your screen entirely without uninstalling anything, so you can bring it back whenever you like.

Situational Uses

A common approach is to keep the HUD on during combat and exploration, where armor durability matters most, and switch it off during creative building, redstone work, or screenshot sessions where the overlay clutters the view. If your mod loader lets you bind a key to toggle HUD elements, check the controls menu for an assigned key so you can flip it without opening config each time. Note that hiding the widget also hides the durability warning, so if you rely on that alert, leave the HUD enabled when you are fighting. Re-enable it before any dangerous activity so you are not caught with a nearly broken chestplate and no indication of it.

Used this way, the mod stays helpful without ever becoming visual noise.
