How to Light Up Caves and Builds Using Lava Buckets and Glowstone Without Placing Them

Why This Matters

Placing torches everywhere is tedious and can ruin a build's look. Dynamic Lights lets you carry the light source and illuminate an area just by standing there or walking through it. This is perfect for caving, mining, and inspecting dark builds.

Practical Workflow

1. Put a lava bucket, glowstone, sea lantern, or shroomlight in your offhand. Lava buckets are especially bright and are a favourite for caving runs.

2. Walk into a dark cave. The area around you lights up as you move, revealing ores, mobs, and drops.

3. To check a specific spot, stand still — the light stays with you. Move slowly along walls to scan for hidden ores.

4. For builds, walk through a dark room holding glowstone to preview how it would look lit, then place actual light blocks where you want permanent light.

5. Remember the light vanishes the moment you switch away or drop the item, so this is a preview/travel tool, not a replacement for placed light.

Cautions

  • Lava buckets in the offhand are safe as long as you do not right-click; the mod only reads the light value.
  • Some items dim or change when you enter water — test your favourite source in a pool before relying on it underwater.
