Troubleshoot Visual Glitches or Uneven Lighting

Check for Conflicting Mods

Some mods that alter rendering or lighting can conflict with shaders. If you notice strange colors, flickering, or uneven brightness, try disabling other visual mods temporarily to isolate the issue.

Reset Shader Settings to Default

If lighting looks broken after adjusting options, reset all Shader Options to their defaults. This is usually a single button in the Shader Options menu. Then re-apply changes one at a time.

Verify GPU Drivers

Outdated graphics drivers can cause shader artifacts. Update your GPU drivers through your graphics card manufacturer's website or control panel.

Check Chunk Loading

Uneven lighting at chunk boundaries sometimes occurs if chunks aren't loading properly. Move away and back toward the area, or use F3 + A (Java Edition) to reload chunks.

Adjust Brightness Carefully

If the world looks washed out or overly dark in spots, the brightness slider may be set too high or too low. Return to Shader Options and make small adjustments rather than extreme changes.

Report Persistent Issues

If problems persist after these steps, document what you see and check community forums or issue trackers for similar reports.
