Surviving the Fight
Fighting the Overhauled Dragon
The Ender Dragon now scales in difficulty as the fight progresses, so the encounter is no longer a single static pattern. Expect the battle to ramp up in stages rather than staying at one intensity from start to finish, and plan for the later phases to be harder than the opening.
New attacks are added on top of the vanilla behavior, so the old habits of camping the central island and chipping at crystals will not carry you through. Watch the dragon's movement and the particle effects around it — the elegant particle animation is your visual cue for what is about to happen, and reading it early is how you dodge instead of react.
Because difficulty progresses, ending the fight quickly is safer than dragging it out. Bring enough supplies to survive an extended, escalating encounter, and treat each new attack as something to learn rather than brute-force. The fight rewards attention over gear.
