Understand Axe Durability and Maintenance
How Durability Scales with Tree Size
Your axe loses durability based on the total number of logs chopped in a single swing. A small tree might cost 10–15 durability, while a large oak or spruce could cost 50 or more. This scales fairly—you're paying durability proportional to the wood you're harvesting.
Monitor Your Axe Health
Keep an eye on your axe's durability bar, especially when working in forests or large farms. A single swing can consume significant durability on big trees, so plan ahead and carry repair materials or a backup axe.
Repair Your Axe
Use an anvil with matching axe materials (wood, stone, iron, diamond, etc.) to repair your tool. Combine two damaged axes or use a single axe with the appropriate material block. This is more efficient than crafting a new axe from scratch.
Efficiency Tip
If durability is a concern, use a more durable axe material (diamond or netherite) for large-scale harvesting. The higher durability pool makes farming less tedious.
