Troubleshoot Low Enchantment Levels at Your Table

Check Bookshelf Count and Distance

Ensure you have exactly 15 bookshelves placed within one block of the enchanting table. Count them carefully—missing even one bookshelf significantly reduces power. Verify distance by checking that each bookshelf has at most one air block between it and the table.

Identify Opaque Blocks in the Gap

Look for any solid, non-transparent blocks between your table and bookshelves. Common culprits include dirt, stone, wood, or other building materials accidentally placed during construction. Remove these immediately—they block enchantment power even with this mod installed.

Confirm Transparent Blocks Are Present

If you're using transparent blocks like glass, leaves, or carpet, verify they're actually in the gap spaces. The mod only ignores transparent blocks; opaque ones still reduce power. Refer to the mod's transparent block list to ensure your chosen blocks are supported.

Test the Table

Open the enchanting interface. Maximum power shows three enchantment options at level 30. If you see lower levels (like 8, 16, 24), a bookshelf is missing or an opaque block is blocking the connection.

Once all 15 bookshelves are properly positioned with only transparent blocks between them and the table, full power is restored.
