Maximize Enchanting Power While Keeping a Compact Footprint

Choose Space-Efficient Transparent Blocks

To maintain a small enchanting area, use thin transparent blocks like slabs, stairs, glass panes, and carpet. These occupy minimal space while still counting as valid gap-fillers between your table and bookshelves.

Arrange Bookshelves Vertically and Horizontally

Place bookshelves directly adjacent to the enchanting table on all sides (up, down, left, right, front, back if possible). This eliminates air gaps entirely, so you won't need transparent filler blocks. However, if you want single-block gaps for aesthetics, use thin blocks like carpet or slabs.

Stack and Layer Efficiently

Use stairs and slabs to create multi-level arrangements that don't waste horizontal space. A bookshelf on the ground level and another on a slab-created platform above still counts toward your 15-bookshelf requirement.

Verify Compact Setup Works

Open the enchanting table and confirm level 30 enchantments are available. Compact setups work just as well as sprawling ones—the mod only cares that transparent blocks are present, not how densely they're packed.

This approach is ideal for small bases or underground builds where space is limited.
