Translations for Sodium Resource Pack FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

What does the Translations for Sodium Resource Pack actually do?
It replaces Sodium's English-only interface text with translations in your language, covering the video settings menus and options. It only changes text, not Sodium's rendering or performance behavior.
How do I get Sodium's settings to show in my language?
Enable the pack in your resource pack list and make sure your Minecraft language is set to the language you want. Sodium's menus will then pull the translated strings from the pack instead of the default English ones.
Do I need to put this pack above or below other resource packs?
Place it above any pack that also edits Sodium's language files so its translations take priority. Packs that only change textures, sounds, or models don't conflict with it at all.
Some Sodium options are still in English — why?
The pack only covers strings that have been translated so far, so newer or less common options may fall back to English. Check that your Minecraft language matches a language the pack supports, and that no other pack is overriding it.
Will this pack hurt my FPS or break Sodium's optimizations?
No, it's a text-only resource pack and doesn't touch Sodium's rendering code, so performance is unaffected. If you notice a slowdown, it's coming from another pack or mod, not this one.
Does it work with other Sodium add-ons and forks?
It works with anything that reads Sodium's standard language keys, which covers most Sodium-based mods. Add-ons that add their own custom options won't be translated unless the pack includes those strings.
Can I use this pack on a server or in a modpack?
Yes, resource packs are client-side, so you can use it anywhere without the server needing it. In a modpack, just add it to your resource pack list like any other pack.
Why is the text showing as boxes or garbled characters?
Your selected language's font isn't being rendered properly, usually because another pack is overriding the font. Move this pack above conflicting packs or remove the font-changing pack to fix it.
Can I edit the translations myself or add my own language?
Yes, you can open the pack's language files and edit the text entries or add a new language file following the same format. Keep the file structure and key names identical so Sodium can find the strings.
Does the pack translate Sodium's tooltips and search bar too?
It translates the option names, descriptions, and category labels that Sodium exposes through its language files. Anything Sodium generates dynamically, like values or mod names, stays as-is.
