Using Leather Boots and Soft Boots to Protect Farms
Leather boots are the cheapest way to get trample protection, and the mod treats them as a special "soft boots" item. Anything tagged tramplenomore:soft_boots behaves the same way, which lets modpack authors add their own footwear to the list.
Why Leather Matters
Because leather boots are soft, they do not compact the soil the way hard metal boots would. The mod reflects this by whitelisting them through the tramplenomore:soft_boots tag. In practice this means you can keep a pair of leather boots in your hotbar purely as farming gear and swap them on before you step into the field.
Steps for Farm-Safe Footwear
1. Craft a pair of leather boots (four leather in a boot shape).
2. Keep them somewhere handy — an ender chest, a shulker box near the farm, or just a hotbar slot.
3. Equip them before entering the field. Any boots work, but leather is the classic choice and costs almost nothing.
4. If you play a modpack, check whether it adds custom soft boots — they will be tagged the same way and behave identically.
5. Avoid mixing this up with armor stands or mobs; only the player's equipped boots are checked.
This is the simplest setup for players who want a dedicated farming outfit without sacrificing their main armor.
