Fixing Trample Protection That Is Not Working

If farmland is still turning to dirt even though you have the mod installed, the cause is almost always one of a few simple things. Work through this checklist before assuming the mod is broken.

Check Your Boots First

The protection only triggers when boots are equipped in the armor slot. Holding boots in your hand, having them in your inventory, or wearing them on an armor stand does nothing. Open your inventory and confirm the boots icon is in the feet slot.

Other Common Causes

  • You are in survival without boots. Take off your chestplate test — if you have no boots on, trampling is expected behavior.
  • Another mod is overriding farmland behavior. Some farming or physics mods replace the farmland block entirely. If the block is not vanilla farmland, this mod's check may not apply.
  • You are on a server without the mod. The mod must be installed on the server side for multiplayer protection to work. Client-only installation will not stop trampling on a vanilla server.
  • You are testing with mobs or falling blocks. Only player trampling is prevented; animals and sand/gravel falling onto farmland still destroy it.

Quick Test

Put on any boots, jump repeatedly on a single farmland block in survival, and watch whether it changes. If it stays farmland, the mod is working and the earlier problem was equipment-related.
