How to Read the Tool Stats Tooltip on Any Tool

Where the Tooltip Appears

Hover over any tool, weapon, or armor piece in your inventory, hotbar, or a container and a tooltip panel appears next to the item name. Tool Stats injects its lines below the vanilla lore, so you do not need to open a separate menu or press a keybind. The panel updates live — if you take durability damage, the remaining durability line changes the next time you hover the item.

What Each Line Means

  • Durability shows how much life the tool has left, usually as a current/maximum pair. When the tool is undamaged, some configurations hide this line until it takes damage.
  • Mining Speed is the multiplier applied when you break a block the tool is effective against. Higher is faster.
  • Mining Level tells you which block tiers the tool can actually harvest. A tool below a block's required level will break it slowly and drop nothing.
  • Attack Speed is the cooldown between swings, matching the vanilla attack indicator.
  • Enchantability is the value the enchantment table uses when rolling enchants for that item.

Reading Modded Tools

Because the mod reads the item's registered properties rather than a hardcoded list, modded pickaxes, hammers, and drills display their real values. Compare two modded tools side by side by hovering each in turn — the tooltip is the fastest way to decide which one to craft or keep.
